Data Dictionary

Below is a collated list of catatonia datasets from around the world. This allows researchers to see what datasets already exist and the kinds of variables they contain. The purpose of this is to accelerate research into catatonia and increase the generalizability of findings.

Intended users:

  1. Researchers without their own datasets who are interested in studying catatonia, or

  2. Researchers with their own catatonia dataset(s) who wish to collaborate to extend or validate findings.

How to use this data dictionary:
Feel free to explore the available datasets. It gives an overview of each dataset, explaining the context of the data collection, the number of participants, and the types of data collected (e.g. demographic, clinical, neuroimaging, genetic).

How to access datasets:
If — after exploring the data dictionary — there is a dataset that you think would be relevant to your work, you may contact the researcher who is the custodian for the data to discuss your proposal and request a collaboration. We suggest that initial emails include information on (a) who you are, (b) the idea for the study, and (c) what data you may require. Data custodians have kindly agreed to provide details of their datasets for this data dictionary. However, they are often subject to various conditions for sharing data, and it may not be possible in all cases. Custodians may also need to prioritize some projects over others. If it is possible to share data, there are different models for this, which could be discussed with the custodian. In some cases, it might be possible to share original (raw) data. In other cases, it might be that the data custodian is able to run an analysis on a dataset and share the summary statistics.

If you have any questions about the datasets, please contact the custodians of those datasets. If you have questions about this data dictionary, please contact Dr Jonathan Rogers (jonathan.rogers@ucl.ac.uk).
